Those ear thingees were bothering Taylor at his San Antonio show. He kept fussing with them at the back of his neck until he finally ripped them off during a song.
He mumbled something about how he never had to wear them before. So, here’s the dumb question. What are they for?

The ‘thingies’ are ear monitors and they are used in much the same way as the monitors you see pointing towards the band in a concert. I think their purpose is to allow the vocalist to clearly hear the music the band is playing so they can sing in tune and on beat.
I was at the San Antonio show too. I don’t remember the ear thingy,,,I was just in awe. I thought the sound system was not too good because, I could never really hear Melanie’s voice. I did think that the theater was beautiful as was the little girl who gave Taylor the sombrero .
Theme? Well . . . ummmm . . . err . . . Taylor’s thingy is hanging out.
